Sikorsky M28 Aircraft receives Type-Certificate from Brazilian civil aviation authority

MIELEC, Poland, Nov. 25th, 2015 – The Brazilian civil aviation authority Agencia Nacional de Aviação Civil (ANAC) has approved the Type-Certificate for the PZL M28 05 airplane produced by PZL Mielec, a unit of Sikorsky, A Lockheed Martin Company (NYSE: LMT). This approval will open the Brazilian market as well as other South American markets for M28 aircraft sales.

ANAC approved the Type-Certificate on Oct. 21. “The Latin America market is one of the strategic directions of our sales. Obtaining the Brazilian certificate is another step that allows us to cooperate with civil operators in this promising market,” said Janusz Zakrecki, president, general director of PZL Mielec.

The M28 aircraft has two type-certificates recognized in the aviation industry  ̶  The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), which are two of the main civil aviation authorities in the world. The M28 aircraft also is certificated by Indonesia, Nepal and Taiwan. However, the aircraft had to undergo the right certification prescribed by Brazilian law to be allowed for civilian flights in Brazil.
